The first film version of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Count Orlok leaves his castle in the Carpathians and travels by ship to Bremen, bringing coffins filled with dirt and plague rats. Rather than depict Dracula as a shape-shifting monster or debonair gentleman, Murnau's Graf Orlok is a nightmarish, spidery creature with a bulbous head and taloned claws.
